    Description

Morinaga NL-33 Lactose-Free Formula is a specialized, milk-protein-based dietary prescription formula specifically developed for infants from birth up to 12 months who suffer from lactose intolerance or temporary diarrhea. In standard infants, newborn digestive systems might lack enough lactase enzymes to process the lactose (milk sugar) found in breastmilk or routine cow's milk formulas, leading to severe flatulence and gastrointestinal distress. NL-33 resolves this by utilizing cow’s milk refined to completely remove lactose, replacing it with easily digestible maltodextrin and sucrose to ensure the infant receives an optimal, uninterrupted supply of energy and structural nutrition during recovery phases.

    Ingredients

Maltodextrin, Vegetable Oils, Calcium Caseinate (Milk Protein base), Sucrose, Lecithin, Cysteine, Taurine, Raffinose, Linoleic Acid, Essential Amino Acids, Vitamin A, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Beta-carotene, and essential minerals.

    Drug Class

Infant Formula / Lactose-Free Nutritional Supplement

    Dosage Form

    Powder (350g Tin/Pack)

    Uses

It is used to treat nutritional and digestive disruptions in infants like:

    • Primary or secondary lactose intolerance in infants (0 to 12 months)

    • Acute or chronic diarrhea caused by lactose malabsorption

    • Persistent abdominal bloating, colic, gas, and cramps due to routine milk irritation

    • Nutritional management for infants suffering from Galactosemia

    • Temporary dietary transition while repairing the infant's intestinal lining after a gastrointestinal infection

    Dosage

To be used as per doctor's prescription or the age-appropriate feeding chart provided on the tin packaging.

    In case of Overdose

Consult a doctor or contact SMS Pharmacy support immediately in case of an overdose (such as consistently feeding a mixture that is too highly concentrated). Over-concentrated feeding can cause severe dehydration, load the infant's kidneys, or induce acute constipation.

    Missed Dose

Feed the infant when they are next hungry. Do not add extra scoops of powder to the subsequent feeding session or alter the prescribed water-to-powder ratio to compensate for a skipped meal.

    How To Use

To be used as per doctor's prescription. Always prioritize strict bottle hygiene:

    1. Thoroughly wash hands and sterilize all feeding utensils (bottle, nipple, cap) in boiling water.

    2. Boil fresh drinking water and allow it to cool down to a lukewarm temperature (approx. 40°C).

    3. Pour the exact amount of warm water into the sterilized bottle.

    4. Add the precise number of level scoops of NL-33 powder according to the feeding table (typically 1 level scoop for every 30 ml of water). Use only the enclosed scoop.

    5. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously until the powder is fully dissolved. Test the temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding. Discard any leftover feed within 1 hour.

    When Not to Use

Do not use in case of:

    • Known hypersensitivity or systemic allergy to cow’s milk proteins (such as Casein allergy)

    • Infants without diagnosed lactose malabsorption, galactosemia, or post-diarrhea recovery mandates (routine healthy infants should utilize standard breastmilk or regular formula)

    Side Effects

Side effects are rare when prepared cleanly and under medical supervision, but can include:

    • Minor changes in stool consistency or frequency during the initial transition period

    • Mild constipation (if the water-to-powder ratio is incorrectly mixed)

    • Regurgitation or spit-up if fed too rapidly

    Precautions & Warnings

Seek immediate help or visit the nearest pediatric emergency facility in case of an allergic reaction (such as unexplained facial hives, severe vomiting, wheezing, or lip swelling). Never leave an infant unattended with a bottle during a feeding session due to the acute risk of choking. Never change the formula concentration without consulting a pediatrician.

    Drug Interactions

Do not use or mix with:

    • This formula does not directly interact with traditional pediatric medications, but it should never be mixed simultaneously with medicines or thickeners inside the bottle unless explicitly cleared by your pediatrician.

    Food Interactions

The food interactions that should be considered while using NL-33 are:

    • Do not mix the formula powder with juices, sweetened liquids, or unboiled tap water, as this will compromise sterile standards and cause further diarrhea.

    • If your baby has started solid foods, avoid introducing high-fiber or complex dairy solids during an acute diarrheal flare-up while using this formula.

    Storage/Disposal

Store the tightly closed tin in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze the powder. Once the tin or foil pack is opened, consume the contents within 4 weeks. Keep away from direct heat, sunlight, and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.

    Control Drug

    No

    Quick Tips, if any

    • Do not use a microwave to warm up the prepared formula, as it can create dangerous localized hot spots that can burn your infant's mouth.

    • Always finish the exact duration of the lactose-free course advised by your pediatrician; switching back to standard milk too early can trigger a relapse of loose motions.
