    Description

Morinaga BF-2 is a premium, nutritionally advanced follow-up infant formula meticulously engineered for growing infants from 6 months onwards. As infants transition into a weaning diet, their physiological needs shift, requiring elevated amounts of essential minerals and micronutrients. BF-2 supplies a highly digestible, balanced nutrient matrix that supports rapid physical growth, fortifies structural immunity, and promotes optimal brain development and visual acuity during this vital milestone.

    Ingredients

Skimmed Milk Powder, Lactose, Vegetable Oils, Maltodextrin, Whey Protein Concentrate, Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), Arachidonic Acid (ARA), Lactoferrin, Nucleotides, Essential Vitamins (A, B-complex, C, D3, E, K), and Essential Minerals (Iron, Calcium, Zinc, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Iodine, Selenium).

    Drug Class

    Follow-Up Infant Formula (6 months+)

    Dosage Form

    Powder (900g Tin)

    Uses

It is used as a liquid nutritional supplement and breastmilk substitute to support:

    • Healthy physical growth and skeletal development in infants from 6 to 12 months

    • Cognitive advancement, brain health, and sharp visual acuity (via DHA and ARA)

    • Enhanced digestive health and soft stool consistency (via GOS prebiotics)

    • Immune system reinforcement and natural defenses (via Lactoferrin and Nucleotides)

    • Prevention of iron-deficiency anemia during the weaning transition

    Dosage

To be used as per doctor's prescription or the age-appropriate feeding chart detailed on the tin container.

    In case of Overdose

Consult a doctor or contact SMS Pharmacy support immediately in case of an overdose (such as consistently feeding a mixture that is over-concentrated). Preparing feeds with excessive powder can lead to severe dehydration, put undue stress on the infant's kidneys, and induce stubborn constipation.

    Missed Dose

Feed the infant when they next display hunger signs. Do not add extra scoops of powder to the subsequent feeding session or alter the recommended water-to-powder ratio to compensate for a skipped meal.

    How To Use

To be used as per doctor's prescription. Always practice strict bottle hygiene:

    1. Thoroughly wash hands and sterilize all feeding utensils (bottle, nipple, cap) in boiling water.

    2. Boil fresh drinking water for 5 minutes and allow it to cool to a lukewarm temperature (approx. 40°C).

    3. Pour the exact volume of warm water into the sterilized feeding bottle.

    4. Add the precise number of level scoops of BF-2 powder using only the enclosed scoop. Level off each scoop with the built-in leveler.

    5. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously until the powder is entirely dissolved. Test the formula temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding. Discard any leftover feed within 1 hour.

    When Not to Use

Do not use in case of:

    • Known hypersensitivity or systemic allergy to cow’s milk proteins (e.g., severe Casein or Whey allergies)

    • Infants diagnosed with Galactosemia or congenital lactose intolerance

    • Infants under 6 months of age (who require standard starter formulas like BF-1 or exclusive breastmilk)

    Side Effects

Side effects are rare when prepared under hygienic standards, but can include:

    • Minor changes in stool color or texture during the initial transition period

    • Mild constipation or gas if the water-to-powder concentration is mixed incorrectly

    • Minor spit-up if the infant feeds too rapidly

    Precautions & Warnings

Seek immediate medical attention if the infant exhibits signs of an allergic reaction (such as facial hives, lip swelling, persistent vomiting, or sudden wheezing). Never use a microwave to warm up the formula, as it creates localized hot spots that can severely burn the baby's mouth. Breastmilk is best for babies, and follow-up formula should only be introduced upon the advice of a healthcare professional.

    Drug Interactions

Do not use or mix with:

    • While it does not directly interact with traditional pediatric medications, never add medicines, external sugars, or cereals directly into the feeding bottle unless explicitly cleared by your pediatrician.

    Food Interactions

The food interactions that should be considered while using BF-2 are:

    • Always mix the formula with boiled, cooled water. Never mix the powder with commercial juices, sodas, or unboiled tap water, as this will introduce harmful pathogens.

    • As your infant begins solid foods (weaning), ensure that new foods are introduced gradually so you can easily identify any potential digestive sensitivities independent of the formula.

    Storage/Disposal

Store the tightly closed tin in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze the dry powder. Once the plastic lid is opened, consume the contents of the tin within 4 weeks. Keep away from direct heat, sunlight, and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.

    Control Drug

    No

    Quick Tips, if any

    • Never use a wet or damp scoop to measure the powder, as introducing moisture into the tin can cause bacterial growth and clumping.

    • Always prepare each feed fresh right before consumption; keeping pre-mixed formula warm for extended periods allows harmful bacteria to multiply quickly.
